Local Attractions ~ French Supermarkets
Everyone knows a holiday to France isn’t complete without a trip to a Centre Commercial.
Nothing quite beats the cool air-con, the smell of fresh fruit and veg, or the thrill of finding the British Aisle, and gawking at the prices!

buy accutane uk Fortunately there are 2 great examples of the French hypermarche less than a 30 minute drive away.
Lecelerc, Olonne Sur Mer
On the outskirts of Les Sables d’ Olonne, you’ll find the E. Leclerc, I refer to this one as ‘my local’ (most people call pubs their local, but you can’t buy clothes and croissants at a pub!).
It’s so easy to get to, and once there, you’ll find, along with the huge E. Leclerc supermarket, clothes shops, gift and homeware shop, Choclatier (need I say more), cafes and creperies, and free WiFi!
The carpark of E. Leclerc is shared with ‘Festiland’ an indoor play area for children, and is great for a raining afternoon
Over the road, you’ll also find another retail park with French highstreet stores including a Decathlon.
Les Flanneries, La Roche sur Yon
20 minutes on the motorway on the outskirts of La Roche sur Yon is Les Flanneries, again, another favourite of mine, this time it’s home to an H&M, Mango and some great homeware and gift stores, perfect if you’re looking for souvenirs but don’t want ‘I heart Vendee’ emblazoned on them.
If you’ll be doing mainly food shopping at Les Flanneries, park at the Hyper U end, otherwise you’ll have a LONG walk passed all the shops.
Atlantis Shopping Centre, Nantes
Ok, so it’s not strictly a traditional Supermarche, but I had to throw it in, because I’m a little obsessed with it. It has a carousel that has miniature replicas of the Ile de Machines in Nantes, and is definitely worth a stop if you’re heading back from Nantes, and don’t want to sit in rush hour traffic.
It’s open until 9pm Monday- Saturday, and has a variety of stores including Zara and Ikea, and even has a Claire’s Accessories!
Race ya to the checkouts!!
