Our guide to a May half-term holiday

The May half term holiday is the one that let’s us know that Summer is just around the corner…. The evenings are at their longest and lightest and the possibility of hot summer nights are in the air.

It’s also the perfect time for a European family break, with no jetlag, short travel time, and dare we say educational (After all ordering trois croissants et une baguette is a phrase you can use for life!).

Discover the top attractions in the Vendee with our 5-day guide to exploring the region this May.

A holiday in the Vendee wouldn’t be complete without a day at the beach! With over 250km of protected coastline, there is plenty to explore.
Our top picks are the beaches at Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, Brem sur Mer, and Les Sables d’ Olonne.

Work off those croissants calories with a day at Le Grand Defi, outdoor adventure centre at Chateau La Foret. Through the forest and over the lake, you’ll see (and hear) the award winning activity centre. With zip- wires, paintballing, pony trekking, laser tag and much more, there are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained, with special courses designed for children from the age of 4.

Aïn Touta Day 3.

Enjoy a day back in time at the unique, and awe-inspiring Puy Du Fou theme park. With live action shows set throughout time from a Roman amphitheater, Viking village, Renaissance Castle to the French Revolution, it is a must visit to anyone visiting the Vendee!

Day 4.

Situated an hour north of us is the historical city of Nantes. With a shopping district that rivals Paris, impressive architecture, life-size ride-on mechanical elephant, and of course a petit train, Nantes is a city worth exploring.

Day 5.

Stay, explore and enjoy Chateau La Foret. With daily activities at the parc including Childen’s Club, cooking classes, yoga, as well as facilities including swimming pools, tennis court, games rooms, bouncy castles and trampolines you don’t even have to leave the Chateau! Let the children explore in safety, whilst you enjoy a little r & r… it is your holiday too!
